imostpopular.com ("we", "us") is an independent ranking platform for digital and IT tools, software, and agencies used by US businesses. This page explains what data we collect, why, and what your choices are. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to keep rankings honest, we never sell data, and we never display your identity publicly.

What we collect and why

Voting (no account needed). When you upvote a tool, we store your IP address together with that vote. Purpose: one vote per person per tool and protection against automated vote manipulation. Your IP is never displayed publicly — only aggregate vote counts appear on the site.

Star ratings (Google sign-in required). If you choose to sign in with Google to rate tools, we receive your Google account ID, name, email address, and profile picture from Google. Your rating is stored with your Google account ID so each account can rate a tool once (you can revise your rating at any time). Purpose: verified, one-per-person ratings. We never display your name, email, or picture publicly — only aggregate averages and counts appear. We never post anything to your Google account, and we do not use your email for marketing.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand overall site traffic (pages visited, approximate location, device type). This data is aggregated and does not identify you to us.

Bot protection. Voting is protected by Google reCAPTCHA. This site is protected by reCAPTCHA and the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.

Server logs. Like nearly every website, our server keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser type, time of request) for security and troubleshooting.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies: a session cookie when you sign in with Google (essential — it keeps you signed in for up to 24 hours), and Google Analytics cookies (traffic measurement). We do not use advertising cookies.

What we never do

We do not sell or rent your data. We do not show ads. We do not share your data with anyone except the service providers named above (Google, for sign-in, analytics, and bot protection). We do not display any personal information on the site — rankings show only aggregate numbers.

Data retention and deletion

Votes and ratings are kept as long as the rankings exist, because they are the rankings. Sign-in sessions expire within 24 hours. If you want your ratings or any data associated with your account or IP deleted, email us and we will remove them.

Your rights

You can use the entire site, including voting, without creating an account or signing in. Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Email us and we will honor such requests regardless of where you live.

Children

This site is intended for business audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

If our data practices change, we will update this page and the effective date above.
